How to Generate Transcriptions using VIDIZMO Indexer

The VIDIZMO Indexer allows you to generate AI insights for audio, video, and document files. With this application, you have the flexibility to choose how you want to generate these insights. You can either generate them manually using the Process Modal for files in your Portal library, or you can opt for automatic processing, which generates insights automatically for compatible files that are added to your Portal.

Insights such as transcriptions or translations generated via the VIDIZMO Indexer utilize AI processing as a consumption metric. To learn more, see Consumption Reports for SaaS Deployment Overview.

Prerequisites​

  • Ensure you belong to a group with the Transcription & Diarization and App Management features enabled, or have a CAL that grants these permissions.
  • You must have the VIDIZMO Indexer app configured. To learn more, see Configuring VIDIZMO Indexer for Transcription.

Generate Insights with Automatic Processing​

If Automatic Processing is turned on, the VIDIZMO Indexer app automatically processes all eligible content that is entering or being created on your Portal. The following are the situations where automatic processing for transcription or translation is applicable:

For a demonstration, the following steps show how you can upload content that is automatically processed on a Portal.

  1. Select the Add Media button to navigate to the Add New Media page.
  2. Select Upload Media to upload an audio or video file on which the transcriptions are automatically generated according to the VIDIZMO Indexer's configuration.
  3. Edit the Media Settings of your uploaded file, and then select Save and Close or Save to add it to your Portal for processing.
  4. Once the file is processed, open it and select the Transcription tab to see the generated transcriptions on the transcription pane.

The transcription pane provides several functions for managing transcriptions. To learn more, see Understanding Transcription Pane in VIDIZMO.

  1. If the VIDIZMO Indexer also has Translation selected in its Insights, it also generates the English translations of the language it detects in the media. You can use the Select Language dropdown to switch between the Translation and Transcription, and view them on the transcription pane.

Generate Insights with On-Demand Processing​

In addition to automatic processing, insights such as transcriptions can also be generated through on-demand AI processing. Users can perform on-demand processing on their Portal in the following ways.

On-Demand Processing During Upload​

You can translate or transcribe a video or audio file while uploading it using Custom Settings. Users can activate this option by going to Upload Settings, which is present under Library in your Portal Settings. To learn more, see How to Custom Upload Media.

  1. When Custom Upload is enabled, EVCM users get access to the Process Tab in their Media Settings where they can select options to process the files during upload. DEMS users get Custom Settings Upload instead of the default Upload Evidence as an option to upload files.
  2. Once you have chosen a file for upload, navigate to the Process Tab and select Generate AI Insights.
  3. Next, add Transcription under Insights.
  4. Save your settings and initiate the processing by selecting Save.

On-Demand Processing from the Process Modal​

  1. To generate on-demand transcriptions for any audio or video on your Portal's library, select Process from the overflow menu. You can also create transcripts for multiple files (in bulk) by selecting them and then selecting Process from the header menu.
  2. On the Process Modal, select Generate AI Insights to display transcribing options.
  3. Add Transcription to the Insights tab.
  4. Select Start to begin the processing.

Generate On-Demand Insights using Studio Space​

  1. Select the audio or video file you want to generate insights for. To open it in Studio Space, select the Studio Space option on its overflow menu or from the header menu.
  2. Once your file is open in Studio Space, select the Generate Transcription button to process your file for transcriptions. If you have added Translation to the VIDIZMO Indexer's Insights, this button generates the English transcriptions instead.
