How to Create Video Mosaic

Video Mosaic allows you to combine multiple media files into a single frame, creating a visual collage. This is useful when a single video from one angle isn't sufficient to convey an entire incident or story.

For more information, see Understanding Video Mosaic.

Prerequisites

  • Belong to a group with Mosaic feature enabled, or have a CAL that grants permissions to use it.

Create a New Mosaic

  1. From the portal's homepage, select Add New (+).
  2. Select Create Mosaic.

Add Media

  1. From the left pane in the Mosaic tab, search for and add your desired media files.

NOTE: You can add multiple media files. However, adding more than 4 media files may cause unexpected browser behavior.

Auto Adjust Players

  1. Select the Tile button located at the top of the search box.

The players arrange automatically in a predefined grid and snap to the canvas edges.

Custom Layout

  1. Drag the corners of players to resize them.
  2. Select a player and drag it to reposition on the canvas.

Specify Media Availability

  1. From the timeline beneath the canvas, drag and drop a track to your desired timestamp to set its duration.

The final mosaic duration corresponds to the media placed last on the timeline.

Clip Media

  1. From the timeline, select the edges of a sequence and drag the starting or ending corners to clip the media.
  2. Preview the clipped media and adjust as needed.

Configure Mosaic Audio

  1. From the timeline, select the desired media track.
  2. From the right pane, adjust the volume or toggle mute/unmute.
  3. Optionally, add a separate audio track to the mosaic.

NOTE: By default, the first added media is unmuted while others are muted.

Sync Multiple Tracks

  1. From the bar above the timeline, select Add Markers.
  2. Select timestamps in different media tracks that you want to sync together. Use timeline zoom for better precision.
  3. Select Sync Marker after placing markers accurately.

Lock Player and Track

  1. From the timeline, select the track you want to lock.
  2. From the right pane, enable Lock Track to prevent track changes.
  3. Enable Lock Player to lock the player position on the canvas.

Switch Position

  1. From the timeline, select a track and choose a player position from the available options.
  2. Alternatively, double-click players on the canvas to switch their positions.

Restore Unpublished Session

  1. From the portal's homepage, select the overflow menu of your mosaic.
  2. Select Studio Space.
  3. In the modal, select the restore icon to recover previous unpublished changes.

Undo and Redo

  1. Select the Undo icon to reverse an action.
  2. Select the Redo icon to restore an undone action.

Keyboard shortcuts: Ctrl+Z (undo), Ctrl+Y (redo).

Publish Mosaic

  1. From the top bar, select Publish.
  2. In the Save Mosaic form, configure the following:
    • Title: Enter a title for the mosaic.
    • Category: Select a category or case. Defaults to general category.
    • Collection: Optionally select a collection.
    • Source Quality: Select the source quality for each track sent to the encoder.
    • Output Quality: Select the output quality for the final mosaic.

NOTE: Renditions are created according to your enabled encoding profile configuration.
