How to Customize Category Count Listing on Media Library
You can control how category counts display in the faceted search results within the library. These settings affect how users navigate through categories in your portal.
To learn more about categories, see Understanding Categories.
Prerequisites
Ensure you belong to a group with Category Management feature enabled, or have a CAL that grants this permission.
Access Category Count Settings
- Select the navigation menu.
- Expand Admin.
- Select Portal Settings.
- Expand Library.
- Select Categories.
- Select the gear icon to open Category Settings.
Configure Category Settings
-
Select Allow Category Branding to enable branding options for categories, allowing you to customize category appearance with thumbnails, backgrounds, banners, and custom CSS. See How To Brand a Category for details.
-
Select Show Content Count on Categories to control how category counts display in search results:
- Enabled - Category counts remain constant regardless of search results. For example, if Category A has 15 media and Category B has 10 media, a search returning 3 results (1 from A, 2 from B) will still show 15 and 10 respectively.
- Disabled - Category counts reflect the filtered search results. In the same example, Category A shows 1 and Category B shows 2.
-
Select Sum Up Categories Content Count to add sub-category content counts to their parent category:
- Enabled - Sub-category counts roll up into parent categories. For example, if Category A has 10 items and its sub-category B has 5 items, Category A displays 15.
- Disabled - Each category shows only its direct content count. Category A shows 10 and Category B shows 5.
-
Select Enable Count for All Categories Across the Portal to allow end users to see the content count for all categories across the portal.
-
Select Update to save settings.
