Consumption Reports for SaaS Deployment Overview

To help you make informed business decisions regarding resource consumption when managing your VIDIZMO Account deployed on a SaaS environment, you can view your Consumption Reports with ease. The reports are generated on a daily basis and can be filtered by multiple time periods for thorough usage analysis.

In VIDIZMO, detailed consumption reports can be utilized by an organization to monitor usage of different services, maintain budgets, and track overages of VIDIZMO resources being consumed.

Access Consumption Reports

In VIDIZMO, go to Navigation Menu > Portal Settings > Account > Consumption Reports.

Billing Categories

The following categories are metered for usage and reported on the Account:

CALs

This category displays the quantity of all types of CALs (Client Access Licenses) in an Account:

  • Total CALs across all Portals
  • CAL summary with visual representation showing CALs consumed (green line) versus allocated limit (grey line)
  • Filter by Billing Period from the portal's purchase or creation date until the end of the billing period

Portals

This category displays the total number of Portals in an Account.

Bandwidth

All bandwidth consumption, including uploading, playing back content, and navigating within the Account and Portals, is displayed under this category.

Egress

This resource displays the total GBs consumed while:

  • Playing back content
  • Downloading content
  • Downloading static files from the server (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, images, etc.)

Note: Content served from cache is not reported under this category.

Transcoding

Transcoding/encoding ensures universal playback across all devices, players, and browsers by creating multiple renditions of uploaded media. This chart displays how much data (in GB) was transcoded, including all data uploaded for transcoding and the renditions created.

To learn more, see Understanding Encoding Profiles in VIDIZMO.

AI Processing

This category encompasses quantitative analysis of the following AI activities in a Portal:

  • OCR
  • Redaction
  • Object Detection
  • Video Insights generation
  • Audio Insights generation
  • Transcription/Translation
  • PII Detection and Redaction
  • Summarization

AI Ingress

Reports the total size (in GB) of content uploaded that goes through AI-specific activities.

AI Content Duration

Displays the duration (in hours) of content uploaded to perform AI-specific activities.

AI Computation

Reports the hours consumed while processing content through AI-specific activities.

Storage

Reports the amount of space allocated to store content on cloud-based storage, measured in GB.

Note: This always shows the highest amount of storage consumed up to the specified time.

Report Types

For all categories, there are two styles of reports:

Summary for Each Category

The Consumption Reports screen has a separate tab for each category summary displaying:

  • Consumed - The number of units consumed of the resources in an Account.
  • Allowed Limit/Package Limit - The maximum usage limit of the resource per package. For example, the Storage Allowed Limit displays the maximum storage consumption allowed in your Account.
  • Overage - The extent to which a resource has been used in excess of its package limit. When usage exceeds your package limit, you will be charged for excess units according to your contract terms.

Consumption Period

A consumption period or billing cycle is the interval for which the license is purchased. Options include:

PeriodDurationReport Display
Monthly30 daysAggregated consumption for the entire month
Quarterly3 monthsAggregated consumption for the entire quarter
Bi-annually6 monthsAggregated consumption for 6 months
Annually1 yearAggregated consumption for the entire year

VIDIZMO allows the consumption period to be configured per billing category according to your organizational needs. Your organization can purchase annual limits for one category (e.g., Transcoding) and quarterly limits for another (e.g., AI Processing).

Note: To configure the Consumption/Billing Period for each Billing Category, contact VIDIZMO Support.

The Trends tab displays line charts of quantitative usage over a continuous time period, allowing organizations to see engagement and utilization of services over time. For example, storage reports for "This Month" show units consumed for each week.

Billing Filter

The billing cycle encompasses the period from your portal's creation date and extends for 30 days. Users can apply filters based on weekly, monthly, or customized reporting preferences.

Considerations

  1. If you are not being billed for a particular resource, reports display only consumption without an allowed limit or overage bar. The tabular view shows "Not Billed" under the Allowed Limit column.

  2. Storage billing: Consumption is always the maximum GBs consumed to store content up to the current date. If you uploaded 100GB in March and deleted all content at month's end, your report still displays 100GB consumption and you are charged accordingly. On the first day of the next billing period, this resets to actual storage consumption that day.

  3. Users and Portals billing: You are charged for maximum usage in your Account for the entire Billing Period. For example, with an Annual Billing Period, if Administrators started at 50 and 25 were deleted by year's end, you are still invoiced for the maximum of 50 Administrators.
