Use Lock in VIDIZMO to Restrict Content Archiving
The Lock functionality in VIDIZMO empowers users to temporarily lock content, preventing it from being archived. This feature provides granular control over content preservation and protection from unintended archival actions.
Overview
The Lock feature allows users to retain control over their content and prevent inadvertent archival processes. By applying Lock, users ensure content preservation and protection from archiving actions triggered by:
- Automatic archiving - Based on archival policy criteria defined in portal settings
- Manual archiving - When users select content and choose Archive from the overflow menu
Lock Behavior
When content is locked in VIDIZMO:
- Cannot be archived - Locked content is excluded from both automatic and manual archiving
- Can be deleted - Users retain the ability to delete locked content
- Visual indicator - A lock icon displays on locked media, indicating its protected status
- Must unlock to archive - Content must be unlocked before it can be archived
NOTE: Lock functionality is available for every media file within VIDIZMO, allowing granular control over individual content items.
Lock Media
- In VIDIZMO, go to Admin > Media Manager.
- Select Lock from the overflow menu of the media file.
A lock icon appears on the media thumbnail indicating its locked status.
NOTE: For DEMS (Digital Evidence Management System), media files are located in the Evidence Library.
Lock Multiple Media
- In VIDIZMO, go to Admin > Media Manager.
- Select multiple media files using the checkbox on each item.
- Select Lock from the top action menu.
Unlock Media
- In VIDIZMO, go to Admin > Media Manager.
- Locate the locked media file (indicated by the lock icon).
- Select Unlock from the overflow menu.
The lock icon disappears, indicating the file is now unlocked and can be archived.
