Understanding Search in VIDIZMO

VIDIZMO provides a powerful search tool that helps users quickly find relevant content across the platform. Search works globally across all portals within an account or within a specific portal based on user permissions.

How Search Works

VIDIZMO search indexes all metadata including titles, tags, descriptions, categories, author names, closed captions, summaries, and custom attributes. The search mechanism uses relevance-based ranking where content matching search terms in multiple fields ranks higher in results.

For details on using filters, see How to Search and Filter Content.

Searchable Content Types

Search across all media metadata:

  • Title - Media titles (highest search priority)
  • Description - Short and long descriptions
  • Tags - Keywords associated with media
  • Categories - Category and subcategory names
  • Author - Content creator names
  • Custom Attributes - User-defined metadata fields

VIDIZMO indexes closed captions and transcriptions for in-video search:

  • Search for words spoken in videos via ASR (Automatic Speech Recognition)
  • Search translated transcripts in multiple languages
  • Click on transcript text to jump to that moment in the video
  • Supports 508 Compliance accessibility requirements

See Understanding Transcription Pane.

AI-generated summaries are indexed and searchable. When search keywords appear in a summary, the original content (video, audio, or document) linked to that summary appears in results.

Search and navigate using video timestamps:

  • Add timestamps in comments to create clickable links
  • Click timestamp links to jump to specific moments in video
  • Navigate via timed comments in the transcription pane

VIDIZMO supports advanced search options for filtering content by processing state and specific identifiers.

Search by Processing State

Filter content based on processing status:

  • Clipped - Content created from clipping original media
  • Transcoded - Content that has been transcoded to different formats
  • Transcribed - Content with transcription/closed captions enabled
  • Redacted - Content with redaction applied
  • AI Processed - Content processed with AI features (face detection, OCR, etc.)
  • Locked - Content that has been locked to prevent modifications

Search by Custom Attribute Values

Filter content by specific custom attribute name-value pairs configured in Portal Settings.

Relevance-Based Results

Search results are ranked by relevance based on:

  • Number of fields containing the search term
  • Field priority (title matches rank higher than description matches)
  • Term frequency within content

Content with search terms appearing in multiple fields (title, description, tags) ranks higher than content with matches in a single field.
