How to Inspect an Evidence

Evidence inspection in VIDIZMO's Digital Evidence Management System allows you to examine and analyze digital evidence in detail. You can rotate and zoom images, view AI-generated insights and transcriptions, annotate specific portions, and share evidence with other investigators.

Prerequisites​

Open Evidence for Inspection​

  1. In the left navigation panel, select My Cases.
  2. Select the case containing the evidence you want to inspect.
  3. Select the evidence item to open the playback page.

Image Inspection Controls​

When inspecting image evidence, the following controls are available in the toolbar:

  • Rotate Clockwise: Rotate the image 90 degrees clockwise.
  • Rotate Counter-Clockwise: Rotate the image 90 degrees counter-clockwise.
  • Zoom In: Increase the image magnification.
  • Zoom Out: Decrease the image magnification.
  • Previous/Next Image: Navigate between pages (for multi-page images).
  • Fullscreen: View the image in fullscreen mode.
  • Quality: Select from available image quality renditions.
  • Language: Switch between translated versions (if available).

You can also pan the image by dragging, and zoom using the mouse wheel.

Evidence Tabs​

The right panel displays multiple tabs based on the evidence type and available data.

Details Tab​

The Details tab displays metadata about the evidence:

  • Basic Information: Author, Type, Category, Updated On date, Size, and Item Count.
  • Description: Full evidence description with expand/collapse option.
  • Tags: Tags assigned to the evidence for searchability.

Transcription Tab​

The Transcription tab displays AI-generated transcriptions synchronized with the video timeline. Select any text to navigate to that point in the video.

  • Search: Find specific words or phrases within the transcription.
  • Font Size: Adjust the transcription text size.
  • Edit: Modify the transcription text.
  • Download: Export the transcription file.
  • Language: Switch between available caption languages.

Insights Tab​

The Insights tab displays AI-extracted information including detected objects, people, and locations from the evidence. Select any insight to navigate to its location in the video.

Map Tab​

The Map tab displays geospatial data for evidence with embedded GPS or drone telemetry. See How to Analyze Geospatial Data in VIDIZMO.

NOTE: Tabs such as Transcription, Insights, Summary, and Chapters are only visible if the corresponding features are enabled and data is available.

Evidence Action Controls​

The following actions are available in the top-right action bar of the playback page:

  • Studio: Open the evidence in Studio for editing or on-demand interactivity.
  • Redact: Open the redaction tools (if redaction permission is enabled).
  • Download: Download the evidence file (if downloading is enabled).
  • Flag/Unflag: Flag the evidence for follow-up or alerts.
  • Limited Share: Share with specific users or groups with view limits or time restrictions.
  • Add to Favorites: Add the evidence to your favorites for quick access.
  • Settings: Edit the evidence settings and metadata.
