How to view Evidence Chain of Custody

VIDIZMO Digital Evidence Management (DEM) records the lifecycle of evidence through Chain of Custody - a set of chronological records documenting activities performed on digital evidence. This helps extract crucial information such as evidence reassignment or access transfers.

Prerequisites

  • Belong to a group with Content Chain of Custody feature enabled, or have a CAL that grants this permission.

View Chain of Custody

  1. In your DEM portal, go to the Evidence Library.
  2. Select the overflow menu (three dots) on the evidence.
  3. Select Chain of Custody.

The Chain of Custody screen displays the following fields:

UserName and email of users who made changes
IP AddressSystem IP address where changes were made
Date and TimeTimestamp of each change
EventType of change or update
ChangesDetails of the changes made

Sort and Filter Records

  • Select the Date & Time column header to sort records.
  • Select the Filter (funnel) icon to open advanced filters.
  • Enter filter criteria (Name, IP Address, Timestamp, Event).
  • Select Apply to filter results.

Toggle View Mode

VIDIZMO DEM provides two view options:

  • Compact View (default): Groups all changes for an event in a single row.
  • Detailed View: Displays each change as a separate row.

Select the Detailed View or Compact View button next to the Download button to toggle between views.

Download Chain of Custody

  1. Select the Download button (top-right corner).
  2. Choose PDF or CSV format.

Tip: To download the complete report, select All from the Number of Records per page dropdown before downloading.
